Brian Taussig-Lux

Taussig Travel was founded by Brian Taussig-Lux after leading UnTours as general manager and CEO from 1996 to 2023. UnTours founder and Brian’s uncle, Hal Taussig, believed in providing meaningful cross-cultural experiences to Americans, while operating the business with close attention to its social and environmental impact.

Under Brian’s leadership, UnTours expanded to many new destinations and became the world’s first B Certified corporation. (B certification is awarded after a rigorous assessment of a company’s environmental, social, and governance practices.) The excess profits generated by UnTours during Brian’s 27-year tenure created the bulk of the investment funds that the UnTours Foundation is still using today.

Brian’s goal is to continue the Taussig business and travel philosophy that includes these key principles:

• Provide the best possible opportunities for travelers to experience a new place in depth,
• Treat clients like we would like to be treated ourselves,
• Make it possible to travel in a way that minimizes negative social and environmental impact.

(Brian has retired from UnTours and no longer has a direct affiliation with UnTours or the UnTours Foundation. Both organizations continue to carry out Hal’s legacy under the next generation of leadership.)
