Itinerary
Day 1- Departure
Day 2- Arrival in Venice
- Meet your designated host at the airport.
- Transfer by water taxi, accompanied by your host, along Venice’s canals to your hotel.
- Rest and explore your neighborhood.
Day 3- Venice Tour
- Participate in a small-group guided walking tour of Venice. This 6-hour tour will cover key locations such as the Rialto Bridge, the Basilica of Saint Mark, the Doge’s Palace, and include a gondola ride.
Day 4- Optional Tours in Venice
- Enjoy leisure time exploring Venice independently or partake in optional paid tours. Options include a private boat tour to Murano and Burano islands or a walking tour of the Jewish Ghetto with synagogue visits.
- Join an included small-group food tour featuring Venetian culinary and wine specialties.
Day 5- Transfer to Florence
- Travel to Florence on a high-speed train, accompanied by your Florence host.
- Engage in a comprehensive 5-hour tour of Florence, highlighting significant sites such as Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia, masterpieces at the Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo (cathedral), and the Battistero (Baptistery).
Day 6- Independent Exploration of Florence/Tuscany
- Utilize local staff recommendations to explore museums and sights in Florence. Suggestions include Museum San Marco, an in-depth visit to the Duomo, Renaissance sculpture at Bargello, or viewing Florence from Piazzale Michelangelo.
- Opt for paid group or private tours to Tuscany locations. Choices include pasta-making in a countryside villa, wine tasting in Chianti, small-group tours to Pisa, Siena, and San Gimignano with winery lunch, or tours to Cinque Terre’s seaside villages.
Day 7- Transfer to Rome
- Travel to Rome by fast train, accompanied by your Roman host.
- Participate in an orientation walking tour of Rome, covering landmarks like The Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the exterior of the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona.
Day 8- Ancient Rome and Vatican City
- Take a morning tour of the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill.
- Follow with an afternoon tour of Vatican City encompassing St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museum, and the Sistine Chapel.
Day 9- Footsteps of St. Paul (or alternative)
- Engage in a 3-hour tour focusing on the life, work, and martyrdom of St. Paul in Rome, visiting the Mamertine Prison, the Basilica of St. Paul outside the Walls, and Tre Fontane Abbey. (Engaging alternative half-day tours are also available.)
- Enjoy dinner in the home of a Roman chef.
Day 10- Conclusion of Tour
- Transfer to the airport for return travel or opt for additional tour extensions, including one to Pompeii and Amalfi.
